Today I wanted to share this super sweet in-home newborn session that I shot back in June. This newborn session is really special to me – not only was it the first newborn session I shot after being shut down due to Covid-19, but it is also my best friend’s first baby! This is the first time I met baby Cole, and to say I was smitten is an understatement! I am so honored that I was able to shoot this newborn session for this sweet family.
As first-time parents, I’m so glad that they recognized the importance of capturing this special time. Even more so, I’m thrilled that they appreciated having the photos done in their home. One of the advantages of in-home newborn photography is that I get to capture the nursery that parents work so hard to put together. Nurseries are so special – this is where you envision bringing your baby home to before they are born and there is so much thought put into each and every detail.
That amazing hunter green accent wall behind the crib? Dad designed it and spent hours cutting, hanging, and painting the wood. The “C” hanging piece on the door? That was a decoration from Mom’s drive-by baby shower. The bold buffalo and bear prints on the wall? That was a purchase from their babymoon trip to Sedona. There are so many details that come together to make the perfect nursery for their first-born child.
Before baby Cole arrived, the excitement built with every piece of furniture that was delivered and every detail that was chosen. So much love and anticipation go into designing your baby’s nursery and I’m so glad I could capture all the details of this special room for them.
This family lives in a super cute home in the historic part of Fort Worth. Mom was worried about how her old home would photograph. As your photographer, these are things I don’t want you to worry about. I want you to be relaxed, love on your new baby, enjoy a slower pace for an hour or two. During your session, I will follow the baby’s lead. Is baby awake? Great! Let’s get some family shots! Is baby sleepy? Perfect, I’ll get some shots in the crib. Is baby hungry? No problem! We’ll take a break or I can get some shots if you’re comfortable! I’m super chill, go with the flow, and happy to accommodate whatever your baby needs.
