You guys, this year has been insane. What started off with lots of excitement for new things to come, quickly turned to tragedy with the wildfires in Australia and death of Kobe Bryant – so much sadness in such a short amount of time. And in the background, we kept hearing about this “coronavirus” that was spreading in China but no one seemed too worried about it. And then came March. Life came to a halt and there was so much unknown.

For our family, I had a goal of starting a photography business. We had a super amazing trip to Barcelona and the Spanish coast planned. We had high hopes for everything that 2020 was going to bring. Once things shut down, our excitement for our vacation was crushed and my worry about “How can I start a successful photography business in the middle of a pandemic?” was top of mind.

But we eventually transitioned to a “new normal” (the buzzword from 2020 that we all hate.) Socially distancing, masks, hand sanitizer were all the new normal. In May, things here in Texas reopened. I had spent the 6 weeks that our state was closed building the business side of Nikki Caviness Photography. Looking back, those 6 weeks stuck at home with my kids and my husband were vital for my new, baby business.

This is my year in review. A photo from every session. I shot over 40 sessions since May 18. Thank you. For trusting me with your newborns. For valuing my work. For sharing my name to your friends. For giving me props all over social media. You, my friends, have been the key to my success. I can’t wait to see you all in 2021!
